Turned out to be a most fabulous 4 days of camping and riding
in the Sierras.
My friends, Mary Lee and Hillary flew out from Kentucky to join us on this
adventure, there first time to California, and really enjoyed themselves,
and have deemed riding in the Sierras there favorite place.
Fridays ride eventually led us to the Dardanelle store on Hwy 108 for a burger
and a beer. That was after some circling and blazing some new trail. We finally
found the right trail, and down off the mountain we went. Lots of granite
that kept us all occupied, but was fun!!! I was riding my old man King for
this go around. It wasn’t the easiest ride for me to break him out of
retirement for, but he made it. After lunch, I made the decision to stay back
at the store with Mary Lee, and Sally’s mare Mariah, and not ask the
two oldest horses to climb back up the mountain. Sally and Vern came back
around with her trailer and picked us up and hauled us back to camp. Smart
decision, as we had no health issues.
Saturdays ride took us to Cooper Meadows Cow camp. What an awesome ride, breathtaking
views, even ran into some snow.
Sundays ride, five of us set off to see the Bennett Juniper, largest juniper in the world, not the most exciting ride as it is all road, but still had a good time. On the way back is when I spotted the “Fire rainbow “ in the sky. Had never seen one before, and come to find out we would see several that day as you can see by the pictures.
Every evening, we had great meals, lots of laughter, and of
course some kickin campfires!!!!
Thank you to all who came and participated.
Enjoy the pictures!!!
