HopeValley

In 2004, we decided to try a high country ride in October so we could witness the
beautiful fall colors that the Sierra Nevadas have to offer.

The weather was cool, well maybe even cold at night dropping down into the low 20s.
Campfires were restricted, but knowing me and how I have to have my campfire, I brought a
special fire pit made out of an old hot water heater cut in half. We hid it between two horse
trailers, never got busted. It was sure nice on those cold nights, not to mention the next morning.

We camped at a spot called Hope Valley, which is on Hwy 88, on the south side of Lake Tahoe.

The first day we rode to Scotts Lake, an absolutely beautiful day,
I only had 5 brave souls that showed up for that day.

Saturday dawned a little over cast, but I had about ten more people show up for that ride to
Dardanelle Lake. As the day went on the clouds grew thicker and darker. We even had a couple
light rain showers. But our spirits were not dampened, the fall colors made it all worth while.

We even saw a coyote not far from the trail, that kept wandering our way.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from this ride.
