During the weekend of August 10th – 13th, seven brave souls followed me to the wild unknown.
Riding this area was a first for me as well as the club. And
the folks that have ridden with me, know
that on a good day my rides can be an adventure. So when I say these were brave
souls, I truly mean it.
Sandy and Paul Shaver, Les and Charlene Chrisman, Bud, Bridget
and there son Cody Ebert, were my
faithful followers for the weekend.
I had my work cut out for me this weekend, as neither the Shavers
nor Bridget were accustomed to riding
these type of trails. I had to do plenty of fancy talking to keep them moving
forward. But by the end of
Saturday, I was so proud of all of them for hangin in there both days, I was
ready to explode!!
Better yet, they were all extremely pleased with themselves for hangin tough.
Friday, we rode the trail in towards Wheat’s meadow. It
was a beautiful trail. We found a nice lunch spot up on
a ridge, sat and relaxed before our trek back out.
Saturday, we rode into Sword lake. Now that is a fabulous trail,
we had everything from several creeks, to
granite stair steps, to switch backs. We rode through an area that had a major
land slide several years ago.
WOW!! If you have never ridden through an area like that, the devastation is
awesome. Mother nature in all
her fury, moving huge boulders, and stacking up trees like they were toothpicks.
In the following pictures, you will see what a beautiful area
it really was. It is in the Carson Iceberg Wilderness,
north of Yosemite National park, and south of Lake Tahoe. I hope you enjoy!!!
