THE “LUBE
ROOM SALOON” RIDE
MAY 2005
This ride has got
to be one of our most popular rides of the year.
We stage outside of a small mountain town
called White Pines, which is on
the outskirts of the town of Arnold, in Calaveras County. Elevation 4000’.
We then ride the back way, along forest service roads to the town of
Dorrington, Where we stop for lunch at a bar called the “Lube Room Saloon”.
This old bar has been around forever, and
before it became a bar, it was
an old car garage, thus getting it’s name the Lube Room. The bar is
filled
with lots of very old memorabilia, some even hanging from the rafters.
On this particular ride, we had 18 riders,
and several non riders who drove
up and met us for lunch. As you will see in the pictures, It was a beautiful
day. We came across a couple small patches of snow, but otherwise the
roads were in excellent shape after our long and very wet winter.
